On July 9th, the research and training of macro agriculture big data platform construction project of Huazhong Agricultural University was successfully carried out in M501 of Humanities Building. Chen Guoshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management, Zhen Zhiyong, director of the Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee, Xiong Hang, director of the research and vice president of the Institute of Macro Agriculture, as well as the lecturer and all the researchers attended the training.
Xiong Hang firstly gave a brief introduction to the rural economic and social research carried out in three provinces in Central China by the Macro Agricultural Big Data Platform construction project. The research was carried out for three consecutive years from 2019 in 108 sample villages and 1,080 sample farmers in Henan, Hubei and Hunan provinces with the support of the university, the School of Economics and Management and the Graduate School, and good connections were established with local governments and farmers at fixed observation points. He said that after three years of solid development, the rural economic and social research in the three provinces of Central China has become an important part of the practical teaching sessions for our postgraduate and undergraduate students, providing a rare opportunity for students to carry out practical internships in rural areas and continuously observe rural economic and social development.
Chen Guoshun gave a speech before the survey and put forward three suggestions to the students who participated in the survey. Firstly, we should seize the opportunity to exercise ourselves. Social practice research is the "whetstone" to enhance skills. Students should be prepared to bear hardships and temper their will and quality in practice. Secondly, we should combine reality and improve ourselves. He hoped that students would keep in mind the school motto of "reading hard, cultivating and building one's own talent", and experience the national conditions, social conditions, agricultural conditions and people's conditions in rural areas, so as to truly feel the changes in China's agriculture and rural areas in recent years under the background of rural revitalization, so as to improve their academic quality. Thirdly, we should pay attention to safety and protect ourselves. He stressed that students should abide by the local epidemic prevention and control requirements and pay attention to personal protection. Travel is very tired, pay attention to life safety . The weather is hot, pay attention to heat and cool down. He hopes that every student can be promoted and trained through this research, and "go out happily and come back safely".
Zhen Zhiyong said macro agriculture big data platform construction project carried out research is the highest degree of organization, the most scientific, the most valuable expected results of rural economic research. From the organization of the survey to the design of the questionnaire, it is a systematic and scientific research system formed by the professional teacher team through careful planning, theoretical analysis, discussion and demonstration, field investigation, and repeated correction. He believes that the most valuable result is that the research team cultivates intensively in one place, finds and solves problems through long-term big data mining, and puts forward policies suitable for China's national conditions. At the same time, he hopes that as students of agricultural universities, they could seize the opportunity to go deep into the rural society, understand the ordinary and intelligent workers, care about the issues of agriculture, rural areas, and contribute their own strength to the development of agriculture and rural areas.
It is reported that the training is divided into theoretical training and field training two parts. The lecturer explained the structure, content and matters needing attention of the questionnaire to the students, and led the students to two villages around Wuhan for pre-research. After 2 days of training, the 10-day rural economic and social research of the three provinces of Central China was officially launched.
