On the morning of October 9, MARI held a meeting with new students for the academic year 2021-2020 in the A705 Lecture Hall of the Third Complex Building. Mr. Liangzhi You, Mr. Jinghui Hao, Mr. Jian Zhang, Mr. Chuan Tang , Mr. Baodong Xu, Mr. Zeyu Zhang and all the graduate students attended this meeting, which was hosted by Mr. Xiong Hang.
On behalf of MARI, Mr. Xiong Hang firstly extended a warm welcome and cordial greetings to the new students and introduced MARI to them, saying that MARI is an international, interdisciplinary and internationally influential high-end academic platform for students to acquire knowledge and improve their abilities, and encouraged them to continue to communicate and explore.
Afterwards, Mr. Liangzhi You delivered a speech, encouraging the new students to make breakthroughs and develop themselves. Firstly, MARI is unique in that it is an open and interdisciplinary platform for research. While strengthening the academic level of their major, students can communicate more with teachers and students from other majors and expand the boundaries of research. Secondly, students should be independent, learn to think and act independently, dare to ask questions, believe in themselves and keep improving. Other teachers at the conference also spoke about their research areas.
Chufeng Wang, a representative of the new PhD students, shared a poem with a hidden caption: "This is a place of great talent, a place where the world is in full bloom. The peasant family laughs to relieve their sorrow, and there is no high or low ranking competitor”. He explained that agriculture is the pillar of people's lives and the most important part of the country's development, so we must make use of MARI's research resources to do a good job in agricultural research and serve agriculture. Chunmeng Wang , a representative of the new Master's students, combined his own experience and said that the first thing to do in research is to have a clear goal, to expand in a direction and purpose based on your own professional field, and to develop a scientific thinking in the process of study. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the combination of work and rest, improve study efficiency, ensure study time and strengthen physical exercise. The new students also introduced themselves one by one.
Mr. Hang Xiong concluded the meeting by saying that it was the joint efforts of the students and teachers that led to the gradual growth of MARI's research team, and that MARI strives to provide a high-level research platform for students and teachers, hoping that they would grasp the learning opportunities and platform resources to actively engage in research and make our postgraduate life fulfilling and beautiful.
