2026 International Summer School on Methodology of Computational Social Science
Computational Social Science (CSS) is an interdisciplinary field emerging from the deep integration of social science and computational science. It encompasses emerging research paradigms such as computational simulation and artificial intelligence. These paradigms have broadened the scope of social science research and provided innovative perspectives and powerful tools for analyzing complex economic and social systems.
To promote the application of CSS methodologies and facilitate the paradigm shift in social science research, the "Methodology of Computational Social Science" International Summer School has been held annually since 2019. The program invites renowned domestic and international scholars to systematically deliver lectures on relevant theories, methods, and applications. To date, more than 600 young faculty members and graduate students from over 80 universities and research institutions worldwide, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, and University College London (UCL), have participated in the program.
The course content includes, but is not limited to:
1. Theory of Complex Social Systems and Principles of Simulation Modeling
2. Agent-Based Modelling (ABM) Methods and Application of the NetLogo Simulation Platform
3. Parameter Estimation, Sensitivity Analysis, and Empirical Validation of Simulation Models
4. Application of Machine Learning Methods in Economic Causal Inference and Prediction
5. Computable General/Partial Equilibrium Modeling and Policy Scenario Simulation
6. Agent-Based Modeling of Complex Social Networks
7. Typical General-Purpose Social Simulation Models and Their Applications
8. Macro–Micro Bidirectional Feedback-Based Policy Simulation and Evaluation
9. Integration and Application of Computational Simulation Models and Large Language Models (LLMs)
