From November 4 to 5, the Sino-German Forum on Sustainable Development of Agri-Food Systems and the Inauguration Ceremony of the Sino-German Research Center for Agriculture and Food Economy were held in Yangling. Nearly 100 experts and scholars from China and Germany in the fields of agricultural and forestry economics attended the forum.
The forum featured parallel sessions, a graduate student forum, and an entrepreneurs' forum. Eighteen experts and 10 graduate students from universities and research institutions in China and abroad delivered academic presentations. You Liangzhi, Director of the Macro Agricultural Research Institute (MARI) at Huazhong Agricultural University and Senior Researcher at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), presented the keynote address titled “One CGIAR and CGIAR Initiative on Climate Resilience.” Xiong Hang, Deputy Director of MARI, delivered a keynote speech titled “Farmers' Water-Saving Irrigation Behavior from a Cognitive Perspective: Explanation and Prediction.” Tang Chuan, Associate Professor at MARI, presented on “Quantifying the Water Quality Impacts of Intensive Farming in China: A Satellite Data Approach.” Li Fan, Associate Professor at MARI, spoke on “The Current Status of China's Fertilizer Standards and Its Implications for Agricultural Sustainable Development.” Hao Jinghui, Associate Professor at MARI, participated in the sub-forum review and discussion.
Participants focused on areas such as sustainable food systems and food security, sustainable nutrition and efficient agricultural production, and sustainable agricultural and ecological development, collectively exploring the future direction of agri-food systems.
