On the afternoon of May 24, Professor Hang Xiong from the School of Economics and Management at Huazhong Agricultural University presented on the topic “Construction of County Holographic Rural Simulation System and Its Application” at the seminar.

With the modernization of rural social governance and public policy evaluation as the research background, Professor Xiong explained the necessity and feasibility of focusing on the “county” level. In terms of modeling methodology, the study primarily utilized a mechanistic simulation model, supplemented by statistical and data-driven approaches, to construct the county holographic rural simulation system. This system is capable of analyzing the coupling of economic, social, and ecological development in rural areas from multiple dimensions and at multiple scales, bridging the gap between micro-level individuals and macro-level county dynamics.

During the interactive session, Professor Xiong and Associate Professor Jinghui Hao engaged in an in-depth discussion on how to measure the impact of changes in individual behavior on the system. Professor Xiong clarified that changes in individual decision-making represent optimal choices made under varying constraints. Finally, Professor Xiong explored with the students how to measure changes in groundwater levels.
