On the afternoon of May 17, Shen Sili, a master's student from the School of Economics and Management at Huazhong Agricultural University, presented her research at the seminar titled “Simulation Study of Farmers' Irrigation Technology Decision-Making Mechanism Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior: Modeling, Validation, and Application.”

Shen Sili used the choice between drip irrigation technology and traditional border irrigation technology as a case study. Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior, she constructed a model of farmers' irrigation technology decision-making to deeply explore and assess the impact of psychological cognitive factors on farmers' irrigation technology decisions. The validated model was then applied to simulate and evaluate water-saving irrigation policies.

During the discussion and interaction session, participants engaged in lively debates on how to model individual farmers' behavioral intentions, how to incorporate social networks into the simulation model, and whether to address issues related to collective organizations such as cooperatives.
