On the morning of July 24, an exchange symposium between the Ordos Municipal People's Government and Huazhong Agricultural University, along with the unveiling ceremony of the “Intelligent Agricultural Laboratory,” was held in Ertuoqian Banner.
Erdene Bilig, Vice Mayor of Ordos, Wang Yuqiang, Secretary of Ertuoqian Banner and Deputy Inspector, and Yan Jianbing, Vice President of Huazhong Agricultural University, along with his delegation, engaged in discussions to promote mutual empowerment and collaborative development between the university and the local government.
Erdene Bilig welcomed the delegation from Huazhong Agricultural University, highlighting Ordos' rich resources, strategic geographical location, and solid foundation in agriculture and animal husbandry. He emphasized the unique advantages of Ertuoqian Banner's agriculture and animal husbandry sectors. He expressed hope that both parties could leverage their strengths to collaborate in scientific and technological innovation, talent cultivation, and other areas within the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors. This collaboration aims to reshape Ordos' primary industry, revitalize the countryside, and contribute to building a strong agricultural city. Erdene Bilig assured that Ordos would provide comprehensive support to facilitate practical cooperation between the university and the local government.
Wang Yuqiang expressed his gratitude to the municipal government for its support of Ertuoqian Banner. He underscored the significance of the newly established “Intelligent Agricultural Laboratory” in deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research. This laboratory is expected to accelerate the digital transformation of agriculture and animal husbandry in the banner and create a model area for rural revitalization. Wang Yuqiang proposed that both parties collaborate in developing high-performance agricultural and animal husbandry industries, enhancing local talent pools, and building high-quality cooperation platforms. He pledged that Ertuoqian Banner would provide the most convenient conditions and high-quality services to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development.
Yan Jianbing introduced Huazhong Agricultural University's background, its leading position in agricultural disciplines, and its achievements in research. He highlighted the university's commitment to integrating industry, academia, and research and its existing cooperation with Ertuoqian Banner in innovation, technology promotion, and talent training. Yan Jianbing expressed hope that the symposium and the establishment of the “Intelligent Agricultural Laboratory” would deepen university-local cooperation, promote the transformation of research outcomes, and foster high-quality agricultural development.
During the symposium, participants were briefed on Ertuoqian Banner's agricultural and animal husbandry sectors and the development of digital agriculture. The banner has been focusing on national agricultural production bases and city-wide strategies to upgrade its primary industry. It has invested significantly in financial support and pilot projects, creating five major industrial clusters and enhancing the scale, industrialization, branding, and digitalization of agriculture and animal husbandry. The banner has also achieved notable success in certifying agricultural products and establishing intelligent agriculture demonstration bases.
Professor Xiong Hang from Huazhong Agricultural University outlined the research directions of the “Intelligent Agricultural Laboratory.” Since 2020, the university has conducted extensive field surveys in Ertuoqian Banner, establishing experimental monitoring stations and sample plots to monitor various aspects of agricultural and animal husbandry systems. These efforts have significantly improved the scientific basis and precision of agricultural policy-making and have provided strong talent and technical support for building a model area for rural revitalization.
The symposium concluded with a discussion on practical cooperation between the university and the local government, followed by the unveiling of the “Intelligent Agricultural Laboratory.”
Sun Youjun, Deputy Secretary of the Banner Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, presided over the event. Attending the ceremony were Professor You Liangzhi and Professor Xiong Hang from Huazhong Agricultural University, leaders from municipal departments, and key officials from Ertuoqian Banner and its towns.
