On July 28-30, 2024, the American Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) held its annual meeting in New Orleans, USA. Professor Xiong Hang organized a forum on “Modelling Farmers' Behaviors and Agricultural Policies,” which examined the application of simulation models in analyzing farmers' behaviors and evaluating agricultural policies, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
Additionally, Professor Xuan Chen, Associate Professor Zhuang Hao, and Associate Professor Yuzhe Wang presented papers titled “When Human and Artificial Intelligence Clash,” “The Impact of Health Insurance on Informal Care in Rural China,” and “Environmental Regulation and Air Pollution,” respectively. The AAEA is one of the largest economic societies in the United States, comprising numerous agricultural economists, policymakers, and industry representatives from around the world. It holds significant influence in academic and political circles and is recognized as one of the most authoritative international conferences in agricultural, development, and resource economics. This year's conference attracted approximately 1,400 experts and scholars who gathered both online and offline to present and discuss the latest research findings.
The participation of MARI faculty and students in the 2024 AAEA Annual Meeting not only enhanced the internationalization and influence of the university's agricultural and forestry economics and management disciplines but also paved new ways for collaboration with leading global institutions, providing a strong impetus for the university's “double first-class” construction.
