On the afternoon of March 22, Huang Jiahui, a master's student from the Macro Agricultural Research Institute of Huazhong Agricultural University (MAU), presented on the topic “A Spatial Sample Selection Model” at the MARI Seminar.

Huang Jiahui introduced a sample selection model that incorporates spatial correlation in both the selection and outcome variables. She focused on applying this model and the maximum likelihood estimation method to study the impact of climate change on cereal yields in Southeast Asia.

During the interactive discussion session, there was a lively debate on whether the model's outcome parameters were statistically significant. Huang Jiahui also shared the sources of the model's input data and outlined the next steps for the research.
