On the afternoon of May 10, Zhou Pingting, a master's student from the School of Economics and Management at Huazhong Agricultural University, presented her research at the seminar titled “Research on the Impact of Female Empowerment on Rural Household Dietary Diversity in the Context of ‘Internet Plus’: Evidence from Rural Villages in Underdeveloped Areas of Western China.”
Zhou Pingting explained how female Internet use influences household dietary diversity and the role of female empowerment in this context. She focused on the origins and development of the concept of female empowerment, the construction and application of the Agricultural Female Empowerment Index (AFEI), and the empirical methods used to establish the connection between female Internet use, female empowerment, and household dietary diversity.
During the interactive discussion, participants engaged in a lively debate on defining and describing female empowerment, the current situation of rural women, and the significance of the model's outcome parameters. Zhou Pingting also shared her plans for the next steps in the research.
